Kindliness is a project with the aim to make it easier to take a step ahead and do something nice and kind towards other persons in everyday life, ideally to random strangers. These random acts of kindness are supposed to be surprising in order to really touch the other person surrounded by the ubiquitous rush in our lives. The idea, to do this using small cards with friendly phrases printed on them is simple and easily suitable in nearly every situation. At the same time, it is an on-going individual and social experiment. How often do I want to tell another person that I think he or she she is likeable or beautiful, but I do not dare to say it? What is pulling me back? Do I show my vulnerability by saying something nice to another person? Maybe I am afraid the gesture could be misunderstood. Perhaps my past experience suggests I should not try anymore. How do I feel when I am about to approach a stranger?
Showing kindness demands courage and these cards might help in the process of approaching strangers more often and showing some random kindliness. You do not need a proper reason to do so. Sometimes it just feels nice to give without expecting to get something back in return. Sometimes you just cannot anticipate which good cause you serve by following your intuition of wishing to be kind to other human beings.
