Weltweit wird jede dritte Frau im Laufe ihres Lebens einmal oder mehrere Male vergewaltigt oder geschlagen. Das sind eine Milliarde Frauen.

ONE BILLION RISING FOR JUSTICE ist ein weltweiter Aufruf an weibliche Überlebende von Gewalt und an diejenigen, die sie leben sich auf öffentlichen Plätzen, an denen sie Gerechtigkeit erfahren können, zu versammeln und dafür einzustehen. Am 14. Februar 2013 haben sich eine Milliarde Menschen in 207 Ländern erhoben und getanzt, um ein Ende der Gewalt gegen Frauen und Mädchen zu fordern.

Auch PreisträgerInnen des Right Livelihood Award arbeiten, um sexuelle Gewalt zu verhindern und Überlebende zu unterstützen. Medica Mondiale, die Organisation von Monika Hauser (RLA 2008) unterstützt Überlebende von sexueller Gewalt in Kriegszeiten uns Konfliktregionen. Weiterhin hat einer der Preisträger von 2013, Dr. Denis Mukwege seine Auszeichnung “…for his courageous work healing women survivors of war-time sexual violence and speaking up about its root causes” bekommen.

Das YFP ruft zu einem Ende von sexueller Gewalt und von Gewalt geben Frauen und Kinder auf. Wir fordern Gerechtigkeit, für jene, die Gewalt und Vergewaltigung erfahren haben und ermutigen Überlebende dazu, die Stille zu brechen!

Wir glauben, dass Liebe und nicht Gewalt die Grundlage sein sollte, auf der wir unsere Partnerschaften und unser Zusammenleben aufbauen!

The YFP supports all those who are rising and invites you to stand up against violence!

Worldwide one out of three women on this planet experiences rape or violence once or often in their life. These are one billion women.

ONE BILLION RISING FOR JUSTICE is a global call to women survivors of violence and those who love them to gather safely in community outside places where they are entitled to justice – and rise for it. On 14 February 2013, one billion people in 207 countries rose and danced to demand an end to violence against women and girls.

Also laureates of the Right Livelihood Award are working to prevent sexual violence and to support survivors of it. Medica Mondiale the organisation of Monika Hauser (RLA 2008) is working to support survivors of sexual violence during wartime and in conflict zones. Moreover one of the laureates from 2013, Dr. Denis Mukwege got the award “…for his courageous work healing women survivors of war-time sexual violence and speaking up about its root causes”.

The YFP calls for an end of sexual violence and for an end of violence against women and girls. We demand justice for those, who experienced violence and rape and we encourage survivors to break the silence.

We think, love and not violence should be the ground on which we base our relationships and our living together!

Ziviler Ungehorsam gegen Kohleindustrie

Die Kohlekraftwerke von RWE im Rheinischen Revier stoßen jährlich 100 Mio. Tonnen CO2 aus – das sind etwa 13% des deutschen Gesamtausstoßes.

Im August 2013 besetzten etwa 200 Aktivist_innen die Hambach-Bahn – den Haupttransportweg für Braunkohle aus dem Tagebau

Hambach zu RWEs Kraftwerken. Sie protestierten damit gegen die ökologisch und sozial desaströsen Auswirkungen der Kohleindustrie – den immensen Beitrag zum Klimawandel, die Zerstörung von Dörfern und Natur und die Gesundheitsbeeinträchtigung.

RWE fordert nun von den Aktivist_innen, sich dazu zu verpflichten, zukünftige Proteste zu unterlassen. Der Konzern will dagegen weiterhin an seinem schädlichen Geschäftsmodell festhalten und so auf Kosten von Klima, Mensch und Natur Profite erwirtschaften.

Aber nicht die Aktivist_innen sollten aufgefordert werden ihre Proteste zu unterlassen. Stattdessen sollte RWE von seinem bisherigen Geschäftsmodell Abstand nehmen!

Civil Disobedience against Energy Corporation

RWE’s Power Plants in the river rhine region produce 100 Mio. tons of CO2 a year – about 13% of germany’s total carbon emissions.

In August 2013, around 200 activists blocked a coal track – the main transport route for coal between the huge open-cast mine Hambach and the power-plants owned by the energy corporation RWE. They were protesting against the disastrous social and ecological impacts of the coal industry – the immense contribution to climate change, the destruction of villages and nature, and the grave damage caused to health.

Currently, the energy corporation RWE is demanding that activist declare that they will desist from future protests that could damage their industry. The corporation, however, wants to go on with its harmful business model and continues to make profit at the expense of human beings, nature and the global climate.

But it’s not the activists who should be asked to desist from their protests. Instead, it’s RWE that should refrain from its disastrous business activities!

The YFP supports the campaing „It’s not us who should desist“ and you can also strengthen it by sending a Declaration of Discontinuance to RWE on www.nicht-wir.de/english-version/#petition.

Review

The last year was dominated by one big project: the Youth Future Conference 2013. After the first Youth Future Conference in 2010 and the Visionaries in Action Conference in 2012, this year’s event was the third of its kind and once again brought together youth leaders from around the world with laureates of the Right Livelihood Award.

The Youth Future Conference 2013 took place in September this year in Bonn. 120 young students from all over Europe came together to discuss the most urgent environmental problems together with laureates of the Right Livelihood Award and the German Environmental Foundation, as well as young experts and scientists. The centerpiece of the conference were the nine workshops on various topics, such as water, energy or soil.

It was a moving and inspiring event, full of energy, action and hope. Around ten projects evolved out of the conference, which are now being coached for another year.

• The average percentage of women was 71%
• 34 nationalities represented at the conference
• 32 staff members, including organizers and workshop hosts
• 100% organic, regional and seasonal food during the conference
• 10 projects developed by participants and supported by the VIA coaching programme
• Facebook posts reached up to 1300 people worldwide
• Participants described the conference as “mind- and view-changing” and “inspiring”

SRS- YFP Report

Based on the “Social Reporting Standard” (SRS), a comprehensive guideline for reporting and monitoring in the non-profit sector, the YFP has just published its second annual report, covering the time from July 2012 to July 2013. This reporting standard has been invented by a group of universities, NGOs and others and is supposed to help non-profit organization in their communication and evaluation. It has internal effects such as evaluating and structuring recent activities, as well as external effects, such as creating transparency, improving communication and helping financial donors to rank and review organizational activities.

This year’s YFP SRS-report has generated a lot of praise and is seen as a Best-Practice Example.

Have a look inside! It gives you an overview of the projects, lists numbers and figures, describes the outcome and impact, looks ahead and illustrates the structure of the organization.

Youth Future Conference follow- up process

Even though the conference is over, the project itself is still running for another year! What are we doing? Well…

1. Coaching:

A big part of the follow-up is been taken up by the Coaching programme. During the conference a couple of projects and ideas developed, that our now being supported for another year. The first meeting already took place in Munich in November. For further information about the projects and their development check out the recent article about the coaching. In 2014 there will also be a series of coaching weekends. The projects learn about fundraising, team work, project management, how to stay motivated for the time of the project and much more.

2. Documentation

To not forget about the conference and the output and impact there will be a filmed documentation as well as a printed version. Those will include images and impressions of the conference, but also show the bigger dimensions of change and are ment to encourage young and old people to step into the ways of Right Livelihood and sustainable development.

3. Finance

For our financial partners and donors we constantly have to keep up book-keeping and finances. Interim finance reports are to be written and tables to be updated. This important and essential work is currently accomplished by Karolin, who has been doing this work for a couple of years now and is looking for a person to take over the division in the long term. Youth Future Project veröffentlich erstmals Wirkungsbericht nach dem Social Reporting Standard

Wer sich mit viel Zeit und Kraft für die Zukunft von Mensch und Erde einsetzt, möchte auch sehen, dass sein Engagement Wirkung hat.

Deswegen haben wir uns im vergangen Jahr intensiv mit der Frage beschäftigt worin eigentlich die Wirkung unseres Vereins besteht.
Welchem gesellschaftlichen Problem stellen wir uns eigentlich? Wie sieht unsere Strategie aus?
Welche Mittel und Ressourcen setzen wir ein, um auf unsere Weise einen Beitrag zum gesellschaftlichen Wandel zu leisten?

All das haben wir in unserem ersten Jahresbericht für den Zeitraum Juli 2012-Juli 2013 nun aufgeschrieben. Und zwar nicht einfach irgendwie, sondern nach den Vorgaben des „Social Reporting Standards“. Dank Benjamin’s Förderung im Ashoka-Stipendienprogramm „Engagement mit Perspektive“ ist der Bericht nun im ansprechenden Design fertig geworden.

Der Social Reporting Standard (SRS)

Um Sozialunternehmer und andere soziale Projekte und Organisationen in die Lage zu versetzen, ihre Wirkung zu dokumentieren und Spendern, Investoren und Interessierten über ihre Fortschritte zu berichten, wurde dieser Berichtsstandard von führenden Organisationen aus der Social-Entrepreneur-Landschaft entwickelt.
